5 Top Diet Programs for Fat Loss

1. Mediterranean Diet Programs. These diets seeks to replicate the eating habits of the people in Greece, Crete and its neighboring countries located in the vicinity of the Mediterranean Sea. In this dietary plan, plant-based foods such as fresh fruits, beans nuts and seeds are the main food sources. Red meat is taken only in very small amounts while healthy fats such as those that derived from olive oils and other plant-based oils are used in the preparation of their recipes. Other important components of this diet are eggs and yogurt and moderate amounts of wine at every meal.

2. Zone Diet Progrms. These focuses on giving the body the calories it needs to function from the different macronutrients at varying percentages. 40 percent comes from carbohydrates, 30 percent from fats and another 30 percent from protein. The Zone focuses on keeping the insulin levels under control so excess weight is lost and maintained.

3. Vegetarian Diet Programs. These are not only diets but a way of life as well. While there are many types of vegetarians, the common threat that runs in all of them is the consumption of plant-based foods. Meat, except for meat byproducts like eggs, dairy and cheese (for lacto-ovo vegetarians), is off limits in this diet. Vegetarians generally have longer life expectancies compared to meat eaters, studies reveal.

4. The Atkins Diet Programs. These are diets that controll the insulin levels in order to lose weight. This diet shuns refined carbohydrates and allows individuals to consume more protein for weight loss.

5. Raw Food Diet Plans. These are diets that promotes the consumption of plant-based foods and drinks that have undergone little or no processing at all. According to this philosophy, consuming food in its most natural, raw state, benefits the body because the "life-giving enzymes" found in raw food still remain intact.

having your own job and staying at your own place brings. As studies continue to strengthen the link between excessive food intake, obesity and heart disease, more and more people are now more conscious about what they eat and drink. To respond to this need for weight control and improvement of overall health, the fitness industry continually churns out dietary regimens and meal plans that seek to lower your calorie intake so you can burn the fats away. From fad diets to crash diets to healthy diet programs that really work, there are popular diets observed by many weight loss enthusiasts today. This is not a recommendation on the meal plan that you should follow nor is it a guarantee that these popular diets work. These popular diets are presented simply because they have garnered the interest of a lot of people in their quest to lose weight. They are simply a general introduction as to what the diet is about and the philosophy behind it. If you wish to go on a particular diet, make sure that you research extensively about it beforehand. More importantly, consult your doctor to make sure that it is the right diet for you.

What is Fitness?

"Physical Fitness" Microsoft Encarta Reference Library 2004:
“the ability of the human body to function with vigor and alertness, without undue fatigue, and with ample energy to engage in leisure activities, and to meet physical stresses.”
Fitness is not about being thin, having a small waist, or having bulging muscles. It is a combination of qualities that enable us to be at our full potential in performing vigorous physical activities. Physical Fitness involves the performance of the heart, lungs, and the muscles of the body. Specifically, it takes into account our Cardio Respiratory Endurance, Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, and Flexibility. To some extent, Fitness also influences our mental and emotional development since what we do with our bodies also affects what we can do with our minds.
Although Physical Fitness and good health influences each other, they are not the same. Healthy people could be physically unfit due to lack of exercise. On the other hand, Physically Fit people perform their everyday tasks effortlessly.

5 Components of Personal Fitness

When you look at Fitness, you need to remember that it's more than just exercising. Neither is it just about your Weight Control, strength, endurance, Fat and Calorie Content. Fitness is a combination of all of these, and more. To easily understand Physical Fitness, you should look into its parts. But to achieve fitness or your Fitness Goals, you need to balance all its components. The following has been generally agreed to be the 5 components of fitness:
1. Cardiorespiratory endurance
This is the body's ability, over sustained periods of physical activity, to deliver oxygen and nutrients to tissues, and to remove wastes. To measure this Fitness Component, you can step on and off a 10- to 12-inch-high step and then take your heart rate after three to five minutes. You can also do long Runs and Swims to assess your cardiorespiratory endurance.

2. Muscular endurance

This is the ability of a muscle, or a group of muscles, to sustain repeated contractions or to continue applying force against a fixed object. For a fitness assessment of your muscular endurance, you can do push-ups on your fitness mats. The more push-ups you can do, the fitter you are.
3. Muscular strength
This is the muscle's ability to exert force for a brief span of time. You can measure physical fitness components, like this, by lifting weights.

4. Flexibility
This is the ability to move joints and use muscles through their full range of motion. This should be performed before and after each workout. By performing a simple motion and observing how far you can go, you can assess the flexibility of each part of your body. The sit-and-reach test is a good measure of flexibility of the Lower Back and Backs of the Upper Legs.

5. Body composition
This Fitness Component is the ratio of lean body mass to fat. Lean body mass represents the weight of water, muscle, bone and internal organs. Body fat represents the remaining fat tissue and is expressed as a percentage of total body weight. Because muscle weighs more than fat, it is important to measure your body composition rather than your body weight when you Evaluate Your Fitness Level. Body composition can be measured through the Body Mass Index or BMI. If you are using body composition to measure your fitness goals, it is important that you use the same body fat measurement technique.

6. Paragon Sports
As written in all fitness books, getting into Stretching and Resistance Exercises will improve and enhance your cardio respiratory endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and flexibility to various extents. Those are the components of physical fitness.

Amanda Latona is a recording artist-turned-IFBB Bikini Pro and fitness model. Amanda landed her first record deal at the age of 18 in an all-girl group that performed and toured throughout Europe and the United States. Along with that record deal came a gym membership, and the day she set foot in a gym, she was hooked. Soon Amanda decided to take her love of being onstage and fuse it with her other passion, fitness, and compete. Amanda entered her first show in 2003 and won.
In 2007, after a move to Las Vegas, Amanda won two regional titles as well as 1st place in the Model America Championships, and a top-10 placing at the first-ever FLEX Bikini Model Search. The following year, Amanda went on to win the Model America Championships for the second year in a row and a 4th-place finish in the FLEX Bikini Model Search, which opened the door to a six-page spread and article in Muscle & Fitness magazine.

In 2009, Amanda decided to try her hand as a competitor in the newly-created NPC Bikini Division. Winning every show she entered in 2009, Amanda won her IFBB pro card at the USAs in July. She then went on to enter the FLEX Bikini Model Search for the third time at the Olympia, this time beating out nearly 100 competitors for the title and landing a coveted contract with Weider Publications.

Her pro debut came in March 2010 at the IFBB MuscleContest Pro Bikini Championship in Culver City, CA, where she earned third place and thus qualified for the inaugural Bikini Olympia in September. She followed up the strong debut with her first win as a pro at the 2010 Europa SuperShow in Dallas, TX.
